After a few piano lessons as a child, Matt’s parents gifted him an acoustic guitar — probably because there wasn’t enough room in the house for a piano! His passion for music grew stronger in high school, and after briefly exploring keyboards, he settled on the bass guitar, which has been his main instrument ever since..

At 14, Matt joined his first band, playing rock and pop covers from artists like The Police, Dire Straits, U2, Heart, and Berlin. Throughout his twenties, he honed his skills playing bass in various cover bands across pubs and clubs throughout the UK, while also developing his guitar and keyboard abilities.

Matt has known Breakthru's guitarist, Chris for over 30 years; they have played and recorded together for much of that time.
